Coloratura Soprano

AYAKO TANAKA

A coloratura soprano, Ayako Tanaka, was born in Kyoto, Japan, started piano and organ studies at the age of 3 and won competitions at the age of 10 with both instruments.
She lives in Vienna, Austria since 18 years old where she studied vocal music with Maria Loidl, Sylvia Geszty, Edda Moser and Ernst Haefliger.
At the age of 22, Ayako Tanaka made her début as Barbarina in "Le Nozze di Figaro" at the Stadttheater Bern in Switzerland. She was the youngest soloist ever in the Theater. Subsequently she was engaged as Cover for the role of Olympia in "Les contes d'Hoffmann" by the Volksoper Wien in Vienna, after that she had performed as the Queen of the Night in "The Magic Flute" by W.A. Mozart for 3 years, supported by Austrian government for the opera tour in Austria.

She has been performed in Europe, Latin America and Japan with various orchestras like Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, Kammerensamble Kehl-Strasbourg, Argentine National Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra and others.
During the 2013/2014 Season, she was invited by Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel to sing in the country with "Símon Bolívar Orchestra".
In 2014/2015 she sang as soprano soloist in "Carmina Burana" by Carl Orff in Wiener Konzerthaus großer saal in Vienna.
In November
2014, she made her Japan debut with her first CD „Virtuosa Coloratura“ and performed in debut concert Tour.
This CD was recorded with Budapest Radio Orchestra in Budapest (Hungary) and became the first place in classical music ranking in the Amazon.com Japan.
After She released her 2nd Album "WIENER COLORATURA" in 2017. 3rd Album "VOCALISE" in 2019.
Tanaka gave the world premiere of Esteban Benzecry's “The 5 Cycle Songs for Coloratura Soprano and Orchestra" in Buenos Aires, which was composed after the inspiration of Tanaka’s voice. She won the award of “The Best World Premiere Piece” of the season 2017 by Argentine Music Critic Association.
In 2018, she held her recital concert at Carrousel du Louvre in du musée du Louvre, Paris, that was one of the official events of “Japonismes 2018” - the festival supported by Japanese and French government after the 160 years of friendship between the countries.

Her brilliant voice garnered much critical acclaim;

In 2019, "NEWSWEEK" selected Ayako Tanaka as one of the world respected 100 Japanese.
